One day, Mike came home and told me that someone told him about salt that would change our lives. Right…..
But, it turns out to be true. Maldon salt is what is called, by the culinary establishment, “finishing salt.” The salt that you add to your dish just before it goes in your mouth. This salt is flaky, not too salty, and melts in your mouth. I would recommend you try it on your next Caprese salad or just fresh tomatoes. I have found that it greatly improves meat as well.
While there isn’t much more to say about this particular salt, the French Laundry served six different salts with dinner and there is a show on Netflix called Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat. An entire episode is dedicated to salt. Maybe this is a passing fad, but it is always fun to try new things. So go ahead and try Maldon salt and tell us what you think.

There’s also a smoked version of Malden salt which is fun. I keep a salt box with Malden salt next to the cooktop.
I’ll look for some when we settle.
