After Cork, we decided to spend a few nights in Limerick and a few nights in Galway. These places gave us access to the Cliffs of Moher, Kylemore Abbey and other interesting attractions.
In order to see the Ring of Kerry and Killarney National Park, we had to spend lots of time in the car. That said, the western Irish coast and the Wild Atlantic Way are definitely worth a visit.
Cork is a short drive down the coast from our last stop in Waterford and not really far from Dublin. Being in the center of the southern coast of Ireland, Cork was an ideal base from which to explore southern Ireland for the next several days of our Irish road trip.
As our sojourn in Dublin came to an end, we got a car and headed out into the wilds of Ireland, the “Emerald Isle.” Clearly, we shouldn’t have been surprised that the sky was mostly wet and gray.
