ADVENTURES, CHALLENGES, AND INSIGHTS OF A COUPLE IN EARLY RETIREMENT
Next stop, Trieste. Our European train trip took us from Ljubljana to Trieste. and then on to Bologna through Venice. We decided to spend a few nights in Trieste because we had never been there and it broke up the long train rides.
Our Croatian cruise ended in the coastal town of Split, so we spent a few days there enjoying the ancient port before moving on. Apparently, all the trains from Split go through Zagreb, so did we.
We had heard such wonderful things about Croatia. Because we had booked a cruise from Dubrovnik to Split back in 2020, we went a few days early to check it out.
After nearly eight weeks in sunny, hot Italy, it was time to head to Berlin. We figured leaving Italy in July when all of Northern Europe was heading south was a good move.
One of the highlights of our trip to Italy was the Food and Wine tour of Sicily that we booked for the beginning of our two weeks in Sicily. We were excited to see the island and learn about its culture food and wine.
