During our quarterly visit to the Bay Area, we decided to take advantage of the California sunshine, so welcome after the cold, damp, and grey of Ireland. Pretty country, not great weather. We took a short trip to the wine country and even had time to float down the Russian River.
Medieval Villages And Spectacular Cliffs In Western Ireland
After Cork, we decided to spend a few nights in Limerick and a few nights in Galway. These places gave us access to the Cliffs of Moher, Kylemore Abbey and other interesting attractions.
The Wild Atlantic Way, the Ring Of Kerry and Killarney
In order to see the Ring of Kerry and Killarney National Park, we had to spend lots of time in the car. That said, the western Irish coast and the Wild Atlantic Way are definitely worth a visit.
A Luxury Country Hotel, Another Castle, and a Gaol in Cork
Cork is a short drive down the coast from our last stop in Waterford and not really far from Dublin. Being in the center of the southern coast of Ireland, Cork was an ideal base from which to explore southern Ireland for the next several days of our Irish road trip.
Waterford Road Trip to See Lakes, Castles, and Ruins
As our sojourn in Dublin came to an end, we got a car and headed out into the wilds of Ireland, the “Emerald Isle.” Clearly, we shouldn’t have been surprised that the sky was mostly wet and gray.
