Our trip to Romania included a few days in Cluj in Transylvania. Several things prompted our current visit to Cluj: First, to show Mike my great grandfather’s grave in a small town close to Cluj called Dej. Second, I wanted to visit several UNESCO-fortified towns in the area of Cluj.
Spooky Visit To Dracula’s Castle, Old World Charm at Peles Castle and Brasov Town
During our week in Bucharest, we decided to carve out a day to tour the Carpathian Mountains, about 2.5 hours north of the capital. It was an interesting day, visiting Dracula’s Castle and Peles Castle with a final stop at the popular enclave of Brasov.
Great Hotel, Cool Fountains, and a Giant Building in Bucharest
Our Viking cruise ended with a full-day tour of Bucharest and then a night at the JW Marriott Grand Hotel. We had opted to stay another five nights in the Romanian capital to see it in more detail.
