We had been skiing on our Epic Local passes for a few years, but somehow, Switzerland had never made the itinerary. This past winter, that changed. We added Andermatt to our roving retirement ski tour, and it turned out to be an education in more ways than one.
Traveling Through Zurich and Lucerne on Our Way to Skiing
The way to skiing this year took us from Playa del Carmen to Cancun and through to Zurich and Lucerne. We actually planned a four-day break between when we arrived in Switzerland and when our rental in the ski town started. We try to leave extra time in case some of our bags don’t arrive, or we have very bad jet lag.

A New Start to Our 2025 Ski Season
While we typically start our ski season in California/Nevada at Heavenly in Lake Tahoe, this year we kicked ski season off with a visit to one of our sons in Denver. We spent the next four weeks in Colorado.
This Year’s Peaceful Colorado Adventure
After Las Vegas we made our way to Colorado to continue ski season in the Rocky Mountains. That meant more fun for me and more freezing for Diana, as her knee wasn’t up for the ski challenge. Hopefully, next year.
