There is so much more to do than see volcanoes on the Big Island of Hawai’i. In order to do most, if not all of the recommended activities, we wound up spending hours and hours in the car and in the water.
Volcano Exploration on the Big Island of Hawai’i
When we first talked about spending a few months in Hawai’i, the place I really wanted to visit was the Big Island of Hawai’i, because I had never been here. As with Maui, we got loads of suggestions for things to do in Hawai’i, but the most unique and biggest excursion was to Volcanoes National Park.
Hana, Lava Love, and the Maui Needle
Our final week in Maui was marked by our long day driving to Hana, hiking in the lava fields, sitting at Makena Beach, and taking care of Covid testing for our flight to our next island paradise, etc. We also made a small trip to the Iao Valley to complete our very thorough exploration of Maui.
Maui on the Mountain and on the Sea
Our roving retirement continues in Maui with greater heights, longer boat rides, and extended walks. Having cast off her post-surgical brace, Diana was ready to shift into 3rd gear (Drive will have to wait for more physical therapy).
Our First Impressions and Adventures in Maui
Our roving retirement has led us to the beautiful Hawaiian islands for the next few months as we anxiously await our turn to get the Covid vaccine. It has been 15 years since we have visited Maui and many things on the island have changed.
