Growing up in California, getting to South Florida for a week-long cruise was always an absolute ordeal. It took a full, exhausting travel day just to reach the starting line. Now that we’re living our roving retirement, I finally understand why Midwesterners treat cruising like a casual weekend hobby.
At a high level, MSC did not meet our already low expectations of them, so this will likely be our one and only review of this cruise line. It was a struggle in so many ways, hence the length of this article.

Although we did spend a lot of time at sea on our repositioning cruise, we were able to visit some interesting ports in the Azores, France, the UK and Belgium.
Our roving retirement travels in 2021 taught us a few lessons, the most significant is that we need to travel slower in the future. This year we had 59+ travel days. That means that we slept in at least that many beds, and that is definitely too much.
